A lot of different message boards out there have been having MAJOR problems with spam accounts joining and posting tons of spammy threads. We want to keep our forum a spam free enviroment and are thinking of adding additional controls on how our friends register. This is not in anyway to complicate the registration process, but to keep our environment clean. Do we add a control where moderators have to approve the registration?? What do you think?
This is proven to be great at catching spam accounts and deleting them before they hit the threads to spam us.
Anyway! That is the dilemma at the current moment here on IT Cafe Online. One of those "damned if you do, damned if you don't" type situations. We want IT Cafe Online to be a spam free environment, because we deal with enough of that in our daily internet lives to have to deal with it on the forum we love.
