Thats a good point. It was interesting on how much of attention cricket gets as compared to all other sports. Dhoni rides a bike is a big time national news. While Saina Winning the Badminton championship had only so much coverage on the national news channels.
Its also interesting the kind of coverage Sania Mirza gets as compared to Saina....May be Sania gets the coverage for some thing else...You Men.......are......

The cricketers with their loverboy image are enjoying their so called supremacy over a very few cricket playing countries (5 to 6 ? sometimes) without delivering any physical skill and we are considering them as "the hero of the world".
Whereas the players in othergame where physical stamina and skill is must (like Football )are not getting public attention and recognition.Why?
This is the right time to wake up for all of us and pray for football for its estsblishment with a bang.
Let us make sure that we, the countrymen are soughting for our country in WC football matches where other 116 countries are the participant (not only 12 countries in lazy game like cricket) right from pre-qualifying stages.

Interesting you mention soccer..The only name I can recall worth noting was Vijayan and now Bichung Butia (Hopefully I have got the spelling right?) There is no needed infrastructure, no noteable names, no coaches none..
And kids seem to be interested in soccer only during Some internation event like World Cup is happening. Else its back to Cricket.
If I know it right, even people who try out other sports convert to cricket due to big money involved. Is it right that Dhoni was goalkeeper and Yuvraj national level scating(?) champion....

Kids being told now to Play more and more cricket - CRICKET is being considered as one of the Career option - With the money involved and the kind of endorsements that they have on hand - it sure luks an lucrative option - I am now made to think if CRICKET is our NATIONAL GAME

Hmmm it looks a case of chicken first or hen first....should the money flow first or should the game find its roots and spread across. Or may be there are much larger interest who want to keep the game of cricket at the top and cut the wings of every other game systematicaly. You never know and there is every reason to believe it is so.

Well, if you actually see its Football that draws more crowd and more money. There are lots of poeple hwo actually play football, in different states in India, but its cricket that is popular. Im sure this is not the case in Europe and other countries. EPL draws so much crowd its unbelievable to see the spectators gathering in huge crowds to watch their fav team play and win.

The public are crazy in EPL because of their self interest.Most of them are the share holder of the participants clubs.
Western countries are developed in any form of game because of their high level professionalism.
