Route Map, Weekend trip, Bangalore to Yelagiri, Ponneri, Hosur, Krishnagiri, Vaniyambadi, Yelagiri

Here is brief write up on a recent day trip we had from Bangalore to Yelagiri Hills. Yelagiri is a hill station around 170 Kms from Bangalore close to Ponneri in Tamil Nadu. There isn't much to do once you reach the destination and please do not have greatest of expectations. The advise is to enjoy the drive itself than the destination as we later found out that there were not many things that one would be able to do atop. Weather is comparitively hot if you are coming from Bangalore. There isn't many options with food either.


We started from the Bangalore at around 7AM and drove through Silk Board junction, Electronics city, Hosur and reached Krishnagiri. We reached A2B at 8:30 AM and had breakfast. A2B was choked with weekend crowd. A2B is strategically located on the highway to pull the crowd.

After breakfast, we proceeded towards Krishnagiri and we took the left to Chennai and proceeded till the Vaniyambadi toll booth. From there one needs to be careful with the sign boards. Follow the signboards till you reach the foot of the hills. The road leading to the hill was excellent.

Tip: There are lots of so called travel advisors atop, who would leave no stone unturned to convince you to get a room through them or offer to show around. They would even will try to get into your car with you not wanting them to. You will be more comfortable with skills in the local language.
